This is what I got from his talk from Main Hall Century Mahkota Melacca on 6 OCT 2010.

He is the President Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Melayu Malaysia. Close aide to ex-PM Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad. He was called in to replace Tun who is recuperating in Australia.

· U must start from the scratch/ Bangladeshis.. learning many low skills in Giant, Metro etc// they can quote any price of goods by their finger tips. Once they left Malaysia, they began their own business using the latest know how they got from Giant, BP mall - Malaysia. we are so kind. We trained them and not our youngsters. Where have our loved youngsters gone?
· U must learn from the youngsters / they know more IT tricks than us ..old timers
· U must share your experience with the youngsters
· U must read a lot/ watch CNN/ watch ASTRO
· Read the right things, think right things , do right things// examples Malays read many papers about Datuk Susilawati recently. wanted to know so much about that case. They bought many papers - malay, chinese, indian papers - just to know more about how she was murdered// irrelevant news, no benefit to business ideas // but they love the stories/// as a result we cannot be great entrepreneur. We are just followers (konon-kononnya).
· He tried experimenting things - Explosive things in USA/ u can do anything in USA, he said...and we all laugh / he came back and open a factory on explosives in Perak// his share 60%. Soon he sold his share and opened other companies
· Minyak Geliga// experience in helping a ‘Wak’ selling minyak geliga// his dad advised him to help a malay WAK in Singapore. Switch job from European business to take that Wak's business on Minyak Geliga.
· RM60,000 per month that Wak made to RM1,000,000 in 2 years with Dato's intervention.
· Respect your staff// the lowest rank to the highest rank// award them handsomely and proportionally/ pay their EPF// stop hiring your own clan//u pay peanuts and u get nothing at the end; ur siblings left u with bad mouth, right?// must hire people who can do things professionally//
· Chinese are living according to their means// examples: they live together in the old days// they sent their anak to very good chinese schools/ they can work at their papa shops but they modify, they left for Europe and came back reinventing their papa business and see what they do now .. all kinds of new business// unlike the malays who started with goreng pisang under a tree and now after 30 years they are still happy eating under the same old tree. Great stuff!
· Malays are not living according to their means// they got to MCKK, STAR etc etc but most of them came back from London to be government salary earners examples teachers, engineers and doctors. They fought DG44, M44, U44 .. everything on paper. Small bonus yearly pun .. kuar atas paper. See what they like to read ? METRO. why not other business paper like what the chinese are reading day and night? He..he..
· He sent all his children to London// they came back , got married// he gave all the companies to his children 20 years ago/ now he is collecting his shares only.
