Any good restaurant needs the best cook. If you employ your own wife or daughters as the cook , 75% of your problem is solved. Why did I say so?
Many restaurants in Kuala Lumpur depends heavily on Thai cooks because there is a mathematical rule that says thais cooks better ‘tom-yam’ and sea food. But they did not know that thai has many relatives. First cousin, second cousin, third cousin, …, in fact the whole village from Naratiwat/ Yala are his/her cousins, uncles, aunties. Thai are famous for squatting at your residence. Imagine what will happen to your gunny sack of rice if the whole village from Yala starts coming to your house every weekend. You are right. Soon you are nobody in your own home. Your parking space all belongs to the Thai vehicles. Look at their registration number. Magic! Thailand flag?
Second point is thais like going home to their village. If there is a wedding, the cook will apply for a short leave. Say 3 days. This covers 2 days travelling and 1 day celebration in conjuction to the wedding. Please don’t be surprise if the cook overstay for 1 whole week in Naratiwat/Yala. Well, it is not easy to meet his/her realtives coming from far away places ranging from Yala, Naratiwat, Satun, Chengmai and Bangkok. By the way. What will happen to your restaurant? Yes, it is going bust. First week few regulars got angry at you and the next 3 weeks you are the next one who are mad with your own self for depending so much on the Thai cook(s). See my argument?
But alas, not many entrepreneurs learnt these stories. Why? Thais are famous for their natural beauty. See many Malays marrying thais as their first , second and ..the ‘nth’ wife. The marriage never stop. Why? Thais are more beautiful than the locals in Kajang, Bangi, Nilai etc etc. So we never want to learn the big mistakes. What mistakes? See the second and third paragraph of this comment.
TQ.
