Good Morning. Today I went to a course regarding "MSc and PhD supervision". About 30 to 40 participants joined me in the course. Mostly got their MSc and PhD within the last 3 years.
So there we were this morning listening to 3 great Profs talking about the dos and don'ts of supervision.
Talk 1: General view. Why this course? Statistics of Research Students in UTHM across all faculties. About 300 +. By Dean Graduate School UTHM
Talk 2: Six main areas about supervision. Examples get the right supervisor to the right student. Why not to take in a student .. not matching between research specialization to a student's interest. Etc etc. By : Director R & I UTHM
Talk 3: PhD thesis. Viva and Publications. By : Prof Dr Mxxxxxx
In short I think this is a good effort by UTHM towards developing /getting the correct research supervision and culture in this new university. Bravo UTHM!
