An evening in Yemen

Posted by sazali

Salam

last night we were invited for dinner in one of the Yemenish houses in UTHM perwira hostel. It was an honour to go there with my wife and a daughter.

Before the food came our talking were zoomed at the following areas:

(i) malaysian food and yamenish food are quite similar ; our culture ; our physical size; our beauty and many more

(ii) teaching quality in UTHM - not so good. Because we hired new staff who has less skill , experience and the ability to teach very well. They complained why the lecturers using power points and reading the points one after the other without making any comments, examples etc etc. In fact we already know how to read english sentences. I replied ".. UTHM is a research university. Many staff are focussing more on research and writing .. than solid teaching. .. may be that's why ... I guess so.."

(iii) muslim girls' dressing - they cover their tops but everybody 'can imagine their shape and contour..'. One day they covered their bodies so well but the next day .. they dressed like the chinese. Why is that so? I am afraid I cannot give them any answer. Perhaps our ustaz and ustazah can reply and give a good account about that trend, fashion, culture, 1malaysia concept. In short most probably our iman and the fear of Allah is getting less and less in our lives. ".. terlalu rapuh n nipis macam kulit bawang .. kitab mano dio pakai ? " kato YB Nik Azik (MB Kelantan) lah. sapo lagi.

After all the talking they served us very delicious Yamenish food and mango syrup - tikka, cepati, .. , in sum their wives are really very good cook and very efficient. Bravo!

Thats all the time being. Let us ponder at those comments from the oversea students. By doing so ..we can be a better university, nation, muslim ummah - insyallah.

Wa llahu alam.
